Pandas animation tricks #13

In this video I talk about pacing and rhythm and how they apply to animation. To help illustrate the ideas I show clips from films in an attempt to make things clear. To be honest this topic is kind of hard to explain quickly but I took my best shot at it. Also, sorry for the poor quality of the videos I showed they were pulled of the internet.

Nice tutorial. Rhythm is one of those things that's easy to forget about until it's too late and you're stuck spending hours re-timing animation.

A nice tip is to have some software that lets you draw over frames and make little tick marks where your key poses and accents are. Then, when you watch it play back, you can see your rhythm as the dots flash across the screen.
